B I R D S

Birds is an interactive art installation examining presence and absence through a network of 100 Birds. Each Bird may be present or absent across three states: Homes, Sanctuary, or Away.

The second installation will take place in Marfa, Texas, where Birds will be represented in an Away state for the first time.

T H E  E V E N T

A few miles outside Marfa, on twenty five acres of high desert, all three states of the work will be shown across a multi screen installation. A bonfire, barbecue and open bar will run three hours, with a livestream (pending patronage) bringing Marfa and the Birds to the internet. The event will be free and open to the public.

During the installation, 20 Birds will appear in their Away state, set within a Marfa landscape filmed on the same land where the work will be shown.

Each of these 20 Birds is seeking a patron. A $1,000 contribution brings one Bird to Marfa and helps support the installation and public event.
